KARACHI, Sept 1: Three-year-old bay colt Royal King, who completed a splendid hat-trick last weekend, looks all set to stretch his winning run when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.
The fitness of the colt suggests that he will dominate the field in which 12 horses are in contention for honours barring last minute withdrawls.
His latest three wins include the KRC Cup on July 11 where he edged Ghazan Prince by five lengths. In the next two runs, he finished way ahead of his opponents, showing signs of improvement.
He did the trio of owner, trainer and rider proud by storming to third straight victory in the last meeting.
His likely challengers in the field are the chestnut Sharp Cat and filly Kat Mandu.
Fancied four-year-old bay colt Truf Shot is poised to atone to the previous loss by claiming the feature event.
After failing to finish on the board on July 24, he had to be content with second slot in the last run. Earlier, he made winning a habit with five wins on the trot.
He is likely to be chased by Reyan King, Dragon Heart and Voo Doo Doll for the places.
If allowed to run on merit four-year-old bay colt Captain Cook should oblige punters in the next race so does Fantastic Horse.
Owner-trained colt Sing Sing is on course to make it a three on trot, while Love Pakistan, who finished off the board in the last meeting, is tipped to make amends.
Syed Ismail Shah’s colt King Of Cool and Gorella are poised to repeat their winning feats in the first two races while filly Sahibzadi should dominate the third to make it three-in-a-row.
A total of nine races are on the card for the day’s meeting and the first race gets into action at 12.30pm.
