LAHORE, Aug 27: Seven-year-old bay mare Stride To Moment, helped by a superb ride from riding boy Shakeel Mahmood, completed a hat trick of victories by landing the supporting event during the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday evening.
The mare had earlier won back-to-back races on Aug 12 as well as Aug 19 under the same rider.
Backed at five to two Stride To Moment took the commanding lead soon after entering into the straight course and went on to beat odds on favourite filly, Shah Pari by four lengths easily. The gelding Trump Coup finished third another seven lengths behind among six runners. The winner covered the 1200 metres race distance in one minute 18 second, the fastest timing of the day. This was the sixth and last race of the day.
A race earlier short odds favourite colt, Baker’s View won the feature event defeating Moj Mayla by four lengths. Hallen Of Troy finished third, a distance further away.
The race was run on a very slow pace, in which the winner covered the 1200m in a slow time of one minute 20 1/5 secs.
Six-year-old gelding Mannan Prince gained another easy success in the fourth race to make it two in a row. He overwhelmed Rana Choice to win by over three lengths.
In all, six ran for the race after the last-minute withdrawal of Ahsan The Great and Gold Bird.
The 70-100 favourite God’s Gift, a maiden after four starts broke her duck with a smooth success in the first race.
He beat the second favourite mare, Malika by over eight lengths to be safely home. Nigar and Sohna Noor finished third and fourth among eight starters.
Chestnut mare Bird Fly put up a smashing performance in the second race. Leading all the way, she beat Simoom by a good margin of over three lengths. Dillagi and Issabella completed the frame among eleven runners.
Backed at five to two, the bay filly Mama Mia, won the third race defeating Shah Rani by a length. A neck behind Blu’s Wendy came third. This was a closely contested race.
Jockey Shahid Rehman excelled among riders. He piloted home two winners, Mannan Prince and Baker’s View in the fourth and fifth race, respectively.
It was one of the severe muggy evenings on Sunday, which had made the plight of race-goers miserable. As a result the attendance too was far less than the average number attending races.
