LAHORE, Aug 27: The Rang Mahal police claimed on Monday to have arrested one of the two robbers involved in a dacoity at a gold testing and refine laboratory in Soha Bazaar and recovered 2.5kg impure gold bars worth Rs2.95 million from his possession.
A joint team of the Rang Mahal operations and investigation police arrested Abid Khan on the identification of Muhammad Nadeem, an employee of the laboratory owned by Haji Rasheed.
Police said Nadeem disclosed during interrogation that he along with two accomplices had planned the robbery. The police, however, did not disclose the name of other accused who is still at large.
Accused Nadeem and another employee, Ghulam Mustafa, were present in the laboratory at the time of the incident on Aug 25.
Taking a notice of the incident, SSP (operations) Aftab Cheema had given the Rang Mahal supervisory police officer a 72-hour deadline to trace the accused and recover the looted gold.
Appreciating the police team for tracing the accused, CCPO Malik Muhammad Iqbal announced cash and certificates for its members.
