PESHAWAR, Aug 25: Corps Commander Lt-Gen Mohammad Masood Alam has said that soldiers of the Frontier Corps (FC) have always fulfilled responsibility of defending western borders of the country with utmost professionalism.

He was speaking at a ceremony held here in Balahisar Fort on Saturday hand over cheques to the families of the slain FC personnel.

FC Inspector-General Maj-Gen Muhammad Alam Khattak and a large number of family members of the slain FC personnel attended the event, said a press release.

The corps commander said sacrifices of soldiers would go a long way in improving the law and order situation in tribal areas and would surely serve as role models.

Gen Alam handed over cheques for Rs500,000 each to the families of the slain FC personnel.

The press release said the FC had undertaken a number of initiatives for the welfare of martyrs’ families, including financial assistance, employment opportunities, free medical and education facilities.
