Salim, Ayub stand out

KARACHI, Aug 22: Meezan Bank Limited and Saudi Pak Bank recorded comfortable wins over their respective rivals in the first Meezan Inter-bank cricket tournament matches played at the Quaid-i-Azam Park, Steel Town on Sunday.

In the first game, Saudi Pak Bank, batting first, accumulated 190 all out in the allotted 25 overs against KASB Bank. Mohammad Salim (48) and Atiq-ur-Rehman (33) were their chief scorers. Zubair Ali (3-28), Sarosh Ibrahim (2-29), and Sohail Khan (2-35) were the successful bowlers.

Helped by some accurate bowling from Salim, Vijay Hazari, and Mohammad Ubaid, who bagged two wickets each, KASB were shot out for just 76. Salim received the man-of-the-match award.

In the other game, Meezan Bank restricted Soneri Bank to 102 in 23.5 overs. Ayub Baig and Mohammad Ismail grabbed 3 wickets each. Sadaruddin (26) was the highest scorer. Meezan Bank overhauled the target in 16.3 overs with six wickets intact. Umar Aminuddin played a gallant knock of 60 studded with six fours and two sixes. Amjad Shafi claimed 2-19. Ayub was declared man-of-the-match.
