HYDERABAD, Aug 20: A seminar on “Contaminated water and its effects” deplored that the World Bank, Unicef and other international organizations have provided massive funds to the Sindh government for the supply of safe drinking water to the people but the situation has remained unchanged.

The seminar was held in the conference hall of the Hyderabad Chambers of Commerce and Industry under the aegis of the Association for Research and Development of Rural Areas.

Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput said that a large number of people were suffering from stomach and liver diseases due to consumption of polluted water as 70 per cent of Sindh population was forced to drink contaminated water.

Sindh Taraqqi-passand Mallah Tanzeem chairman Arib Mallah sarcastically said that if the members of the assemblies drank the water being supplied to the people of Hyderabad, they would collapse on the spot. He pointed out that the water tanks in the schools were never cleansed and school children were forced to drink contaminated water.
