MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Aug 16: An enraged man gunned down three people and injured five others in Mauza Raas near Qadirabad, 30 kilometres from Mandi Bahauddin, on Thursday.

Zafar Iqbal kidnapped Nazia Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Ramzan.

On Thursday, Ramzan with his relatives came to the accused and demanded her daughter back. At this, the accused opened indiscriminate fire, killing Ramzan, his wife Ghulam Fatima and Kalsoom Bibi instantly and injuring Muhammad Hayat, Muhammad Riaz, Saifullah, Bushra Bibi and Irum Bibi.

The injured were shifted to Phalia Tehsil Headquarters hospital.

DON’T SACK THEM: The Punjab government has relieved all 6,000 union council secretaries in the province to re-fill these vacancies for political gains, said District Bar President Muzaffar Iqbal Dhudhra on Thursday. He requested Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry take note of the issue on humanitarian grounds.

Of these 6,000 employees, 27 are from Mandi Bahauddin. He said the sacked workers had computer and local government training diplomas and they qualified all requirements of the new recruitment policy of the government.
