All steps to check crime: governor

LAHORE, Aug 15: Governor Khalid Maqbool said on Wednesday the police, now having enough resources, should work dedicatedly to curb crimes with an ultimate objective to win the confidence of the masses.

“The government has taken a number of steps, including allocation of huge resources and required legislation like new police order, to ensure protection to the life and property of the people,” he said while talking to newsmen at the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) office here.

Khalid Maqbool said a new traffic police had been introduced in the provincial capital and hoped that the system would be extended to other cities of Punjab soon. He said Pakistan Baitul Maal had provided assistance to hepatitis patients for treatment.

Earlier, the governor presided over a CPLC meeting which was attended among others by its chairman Justice (retd) Muhammad Asif Jan and Home Secretary Khusro Pervaiz. —APP
