PESHAWAR, Aug 13: Dozens of activists of the Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) on Monday held a demonstration in the Qissakhwani Bazaar to condemn the killing of their leader Aslam Farooqui who was slain on Sunday.
The activists of SSP reached the rally’s venue from all over the city in small groups. Upon reaching the Qissakhwani Bazaar, the processions were converted into a rally.
Holding banners and placards, the protesters chanted slogans against “sectarianism”.
The protesters were led by SSP president Maulana Mohammad Ahmad Ludhianvi, president of Anjuman Farooqia Kurram Agency Eid Nazar Farooqui, Maulana Ismail Darwaish and other leaders.
Addressing the rally, leaders of the SSP asked the authorities to punish the arrested killer and to accelerate efforts to arrest the other people involved.
The protesters severely beat a youngster who was taking photographs of the demonstration with his cellular phone. The protesters tore off his clothes and stripped him naked.
Police officials deputed there, including DSP Bashirullah Khan, came to his rescue and took him to the nearby Kabuli police station.
