KARACHI: All set for cultural extravaganza

KARACHI, Aug 12: Naib Nazim Nasreen Jalil has said that all arrangements have been finalized to hold Hamara Karachi-Hamara Pakistan celebrations under the auspices of Karachi Foundation.

Addressing a meeting of various town nazims and office-bearers of the Karachi Foundation at her office on Sunday, she said that 25 floats would march towards the mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah from KMC Building on Aug 14 at 3pm.

Nasreen Jalil said that helicopters of Sindh Rangers would shower flower petals on the floats. She said four cultural gates– Sindh Gate in front of KMC Building, Balochistan Gate at Tibat Centre, Punjab Gate at Prince Cinema and Sarhad Gate at Numaish Chowrangi– would also be established. Actors from all four provinces will also perform on the occasion to show solidarity with the nation, she added.

The naib nazim said people could participate in Hamara Karachi-Hamara Pakistan celebrations from five entry points – Dow Medical College Signal, Eidgah Chowrangi, Tibet Centre, Garden Chowk and Numaish. Scouts and bands of various city schools would also participate in the programmes, she said.

Ms Jalil said said the floats would reach mausoleum at 7pm and a musical show would be held at Shahrah-i-Quaideen where national songs would be sung. Fireworks would also be exploded at 11pm on Aug 14.—PPI
