Protest against power outage

NAWABSHAH, Aug 9: Hundreds of residents of Azeem colony, Bhangwar colony and Doulat colony staged a demonstration against unannounced power loadshedding on Sakrand road here Wednesday.

The protesters, led by Kamran Mahar, Abdul Razzaq Lakho and others, raised slogans against the Hesco. The enraged protesters also burnt tyres.

They said that loadshedding was a routine which has not only affected the lives but also their business activities.

They said that there was no water in the area due to the power breakdown.

Meanwhile, residents of Qazi Ahmed town also staged demonstration against loadshedding. The protesters carried placards and raised slogans against the Hesco.

They threatened to block the National Highway if the loadshedding was not stopped.

Our Khairpur correspondent adds: The residents of different colonies of Khairpur city including, Shahbaz colony, Latif colony, Khaki Shah Pul and other areas took out a procession from the Nim Morr against the ongoing power loadshedding here on Thursday.

The protesters marched through different roads and observed a sit-in on station road.

They raised slogans against the Hesco officials and said that the power supply remained suspended for about 12 hours every day in the city since last five days.

The protesters added that power outage was causing hardships to citizens.
