TIMERGARA: Repatriation urged

TIMERGARA, Aug 9: The Dir Peace Committee has urged the government to repatriate Afghan refugees or restrict their movement to camps for what it called maintaining peace in the district.

The demand was made in a meeting of the committee held here on Thursday, with District Coordination Officer Dr Attaur Rehman in the chair.

Dir Peace Committee chairman Zahir Shah Khan, District Nazim Ahmad Hassan Khan, MPA Muzaffar Said Advocate, District Police Officer Khurshid Khan and a large number of the elected representatives and political figures of the area attended the meeting.

The committee reviewed

the overall law and order situation in the area and decided to form peace committees at the village level which would be responsible for maintaining law and order in their respective villages.

Members of the committee assured of their support to the district administration for maintaining peace in the area.

It was decided that the committee would play its role in resolving disputes at the village level.
