HYDERABAD, Aug 8: The first secretary (political) of the British High Commission in Islamabad, Mr James Revell, met Chairman Sindh Tarraqi Passand Party (STP) Dr Qadir Magsi at the Tarraqi Passand House on Wednesday evening.

Matters related to the reported Pervez Musharraf-Benazir Bhutto meeting in Abu Dhabi, formation and future of All Parties Democratic Alliance (APDM), role of Muttahida Qaumi Movement in Sindh, any future STP-MQM dialogue, participation of STP in general elections and expected seat adjustment with PPP came under their discussion.

The STP chief was assisted by party’s secretary-general Hoat Khan Gadi and party’s vice chairman Dr Hameed Memon.

The diplomat remained with them for over two hours.

Dr Magsi reiterated STP’s stance on these issues and presented their point of view.

He said their party believed in democratic struggle and they would not associate themselves with military dictator.

He said Benazir Bhutto would not become part of the APDM.

Dr Magsi said that STP would not hold talks with the MQM as it didn’t consider the MQM a political party while adding that option of dialogue never close in politics.

He claimed that whenever the establishment dissociated itself from the MQM, Urdu speaking community would itself stage a revolt against the party.
