MMA road caravan’s 3rd phase from 19th

LAHORE, Aug 7: The Punjab leadership of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on Tuesday announced the schedule for the third phase of the six-party alliance’s road caravan beginning on Aug 19.

MMA provincial president Liaquat Baloch said in a press release that the caravan’s third phase, beginning from kasur, would focus mostly on south Punjab and conclude on Sept 11.

Top MMA leaders, including president Qazi Husain Ahmad and secretary-general Maulana Fazlur Rehman, will participate in the caravan that was primarily aimed at mustering mass support for its campaign against the regime.

He said the MMA had also set up a committee comprising Prof Abdur Rehman Haqqani (JUI-F), Prof Abdur Rehman (JUP), Maulana Abdul Jalil Naqvi (PIT) and Maulana Ayub Safdar (JUI-S) who would travel across the province to mobilise people to participate in the maiden public meeting of the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) scheduled to be held at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on Augh 14.

Mr Baloch said on the first day of the third phase the caravan would visit Dipalpur, Pakpattan, Arifwala, Burewala and vehari. On Aug 20, he said, the caravan would resume its march from Khairpur Tamewali and travel to Bahawalnagar after visiting Hasilpur and Chishtian.

The third rally will originate from Gujrat on Aug 26 and visit Sialkot and Narowal the same day. Another caravan will leave Attock on Sept 3 and terminate at Mianwali after touching Fateh Jang and Talagang.

The MMA’s next caravan will start from Uch Sharif on Sept 9 and terminate at Bahawalpur the same day after visiting Khanqah Sharif and Ahmadpur East. The last of the rallies in this campaign will start from Taunsa Sharif and terminate at Layyah after visiting Kot Addu.
