DERA GHAZI KHAN, March 10: The district administration has removed the foundation stone and plaque place by PML-N leader Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa (when he was the provincial minister in 1992) at the proposed site of the DGK Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education building.
It has been replaced with a new plaque carrying the name of Governor Khalid Maqbool who is scheduled to lay a ‘fresh’ foundation stone on Tuesday (tomorrow).
It may be added that no construction work on the site was taken in hand after the former provincial minister laid the stone some nine years ago.
This is not first case of its kind in Dera Ghazi Khan. The foundation stone of the stadium had been laid by different dignitaries in the past but the construction never began.
Meanwhile, all government employees attended their offices on Sunday to prepare their departments for the governor’s visit. Revenue field staff, tehsil and district government employees are busy in removing wall-chalking and giving the town a ‘new’ look.
The administration has however failed in ‘hiding’ the ugly look of the Maneka canal which is part of the city.
After takeover, the district Nazim had pledged renovation of the canal which is being used as sullage carried.
