PESHAWAR, Aug 4: The NWFP Livestock and Dairy Development Department will introduce Management Information System (MIS) to help compile pertinent data. This was disclosed at a one-day orientation workshop held here on Saturday, which was arranged by the Strengthening of Livestock Services Project.
Experts discussed various proposals and forwarded recommendations for introducing the MIS in NWFP’s livestock sector. MIS will facilitate the Livestock and Dairy Development Department with an efficient and secure record sharing system with a centralised database, getting rid of the file-based system. According to experts, the system will provide swift data transfers, increasing the directorate’s efficiency.
Director of the Livestock and Dairy Development Muqarrab Ali Khan praised the SLS Project’s role for extending technical and financial assistance for launching the system. He said that after the system’s introduction, flow of information would be streamlined while officials’ working would be greatly improved.
The system’s introduction would reduce animal mortality rate and increase their productivity, enhancing the farming community’s income, he said. —APP
