PESHAWAR, March 10: Participants of the 15th Biennial International Congress of Cardiology were provided a break from their busy schedule by local singers and musicians here on Saturday night, who enthralled the doctors with their performance.
The concert, which was attended by all known local artistes, proved to be a blessing for the delegates of the three-day congress, who otherwise did not have time for entertainment.
The dimly-lit hall of a local five-star hotel equipped with good sound system made the concert lively which was evidenced by the presence of all the participants till it was over well after midnight.
Local singer, Gulrez Tabbasum when came on the stage, enlivened the proceedings by delivering his famous heart-warming number, Lar sha Pehawar ta qamees tor ma la raora, Taza taza guloona dra salor ma la raora.
He is called king of the stage by music pundits and, rightly so, he rose to the occasion and proved his mettle in front of senior doctors who listened to him in pin-drop silence. His lilting musical notes also brought respite to the doctor who had been protesting against the government’s imposed ban on their private practice.
Other singers, including Nazia Iqbal and Shabnam, also performed but Gulrez stole the show who spellbound the audience with his performance.
The skits by comedians Ismail Shahid and Said Rehman Sheeno, also got tremendous applaud from the doctors.
The event progressed well past midnight, however, there was not a single moment of boredom at any stage because the exhausted doctors were determined to listen to every musical bit of the singers.
Besides a large number of doctors, the event was also attended by Federal Health Minister Abdul Malik Kasi who was chief guest on the occasion.
