VEHARI, July 29: District Coordination Officer Babar Hassan Bharwana has ordered registration of cases against two citizen community boards on charges of appropriation of funds.
A commission constituted on complaints of wrongdoings by some CCBs reported to the DCO that Al-Badar, a CCB of Chak 8/WB, did not start work on nine development schemes despite the fact that it drew Rs2.199 million, including first instalment of funds along with the 20 per cent share of the CCB. The board was issued warning time and again to start work, but to no avail.
Another CCB, Dreamland, withdrew first instalment and 20 per cent share of the CCB, but failed to execute the schemes. The CCB allegedly misappropriated Rs399,000.
The EDO (community development) has sent recommendations to the police to register cases against the two CCBs.—APP
