QUETTA, July 29: The opposition leader in the Panjgur district council, Obaidullah Shambazi, has called upon the president, Balochistan governor and the National Reconstruction Bureau to hold probe into embezzlement of funds committed allegedly by the district nazim.
Speaking at a press conference at the press club on Sunday, he claimed that opposition members had submitted evidence of corruption against the district nazim to the provincial local government commission and the minister for local bodies, but the matter was not investigated.
Fourteen union council nazims and naib nazims were also present on the occasion.
Mr Shambazi said that not a single rupee was granted to union councils for development projects in two years, despite the fact that the federal government had granted Rs200 million to district governments and Rs20 million to tehsil governments.
He said that the district nazim had distributed development funds amounting to Rs200 million among his relatives and party workers.
He alleged that the district
nazim was also involved in the malpractice for distributing relief funds granted for victims of floods on the basis of favouritism.
