OKARA, July 27: A proclaimed offender was shot dead while an ASI sustained bullet injuries in an `encounter’ near Renala Khurd , 20km from here, on Friday. On a tip-off, a police team led by SHO Aslam Awan raided a house in Basti Lal. “On seeing police PO Ghulam Murtaza opened fire. When police returned the fire, the outlaw who hailed from Hujra Shah Muqeem died,” a police spokesman said, adding that ASI Nazir Ahmad had also sustained bullet injuries.

He was wanted in several cases of murder and dacoities.
