LAHORE, July 26: Five dacoits, including a woman, looted the house of a widow and took away cash and valuables worth Rs7 million in Shadbagh on Thursday. Maqsooda Bibi told police that four men and a woman entered her house at Qamar Park, Tokaywala Chowk with sweets when she was attending her two neighbours.
She said they wanted to see and congratulate to her for the reason she did not know.
As Maqsooda opened the door, the intruders held her and others hostage, broke open locks of cupboards, collected 2kg gold ornaments, prize bonds worth Rs3.5 million, Rs40,000 in cash and managed to escape on their car.
Soon after the incident, two divisional SPs, five ASPs and at least eight SHOs rushed to the spot and interrogated the woman, besides thoroughly observing the house.
Maqsooda is living alone in the house and her son Jehangir is abroad. Her second son Saeed is living separately along with his family.
The police have registered a case.
Four gun-totting men barged into the house of Shahzad Munawar in B-Block of Faisal Town, held inmates at gunpoint and managed their escape with cash and jewellery worth Rs800,000.
Two robbers burst into the house of police official Allah Ditta at Kashmir Park in Shahdara and took away cash, jewellery and other valuables at gunpoint.
Two armed men entered the house of Tariq Ali at Maggowal village in Shahdara and made off with cash, ornaments and other valuables worth Rs300,000 at gunpoint.
