KARACHI, July 25: The Pakistan Cricket Board has adopted World Anti Doping Code (WADC) last month and all future Dope tests will be conducted as per World Anti Doping Agency (WADA)’s code, Dr. Ahsan Hameed Malik , Director Communications Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) told Voice of America (VOA) in an exclusive interview on Wednesday.

“The PCB has become WADA compliant and new Anti-Doping policy has been adopted and implemented,” said Ahsan Malik.

Malik admitted that “since PCB’s previous policy was in conflict with WADA code due to the fact that PCB had adopted its own policy prior to ICC adopting the WADA Code”.

Its worth pointing out here that the Switzerland-based Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), while ruling that the CAS had no jurisdiction in Shoiab Akhtar and Mohammad Asif doping case, also said that: “It is the responsibility of the ICC to ensure that its members promulgate anti doping rules which are consistent with the WADC, and which enable either the ICC or its member or WADA to appeal against what might be termed “rogue” decisions and the ICC members should ensure that their anti-doping rules enable appeals to be made against

such decisions either by the member itself, by the ICC, or by WADA.”

Dr. Danish Zaheer, President of Sports Medicine Association of Pakistan and Vice President of Asian Federation of Sports Medicine, added from Brunei that by becoming WADA compliant, doping was no longer PCB’s internal matter and all WADA rules contained in the code would be binding on the PCB, ICC and WADA that would give the aggrieved party right to file an appeal against any disputed decision before the CAS.”
