LAHORE, July 25: The Punjab government is reported to have asked district governments and law enforcement agencies to compile data on seminaries in the province.
Official sources said on Wednesday district governments and law enforcement agencies had been asked to prepare data on seminaries wherein their names, addresses, dates of establishment and their affiliations with government departments or other bodies should be given.
They will also enlist the seminaries’ registration status, names of their heads, and their national identity cards numbers.
Details of teachers, nature of their employment and the number of local and foreign students are also to be enlisted.
Officials said a majority of the seminaries were in Bahawalnagar (610). Lahore has 485, Multan 456 and Chakwal 257.
