MUZAFFARGARH, July 23: PPP-backed District Nazim Qayyum Jatoi and his supporters have decided to move the Lahore High Court, Multan bench, once again against the holding of session by the opposition members right after the budget session held by the Jatoi group on July 18.
Talking to this correspondent, Mr Jatoi’s spokesman Muhammad Husain Munna Sheikh, a union council nazim, said the July 18 session of opposition members (ruling PML nazims) was illegal.
He said the budget had been passed by a majority of the nazims and he had their signatures on the register.
On July 18, two sessions of the district council were held in which both rival groups boycotted each other.
At first, District Nazim Qayyum Jatoi held its session, but the opposition boycotted it. The opposition said the session should have been called by senior conveners Ahad Sinawan or Allah Dad Khar. The Jatoi camp in the session claimed that they had shown majority in the meeting.
The district nazim said the Rs3.743 million tax-free budget was prepared by the DCO, EDOs and representatives of both treasury and opposition members.
When the Jatoi group came out of the hall, the opposition nazims entered the hall and held a session with Allah Dad Khar in the chair.
Nazim’s spokesman Muhammad Husain Munna Sheikh said they had sent the budget copies to government functionaries for approval of funds.
He alleged that the government officials were under pressure not to accept budget passed by the district council.
Opposition member and senior convener, Allah Dad Khar, said they would present their own budget after removing the district nazim through a no-confidence move to be held in the first week of August.
