Four perish in road accidents

SAHIWAL, July 21: Four people were killed and eight others injured in road accidents in the city on Saturday. A speeding car overturned on GT Road near Iqbal Nagar, leaving Anwarul Haq and his nephew, Sarfraz, dead and Farzana and three minors injured.

An unidentified woman was run over by a car on GT Road near Jamia Rashidia.

In another incident, a bus hit a rickshaw on Old Chichawatni Road near Chak 113/7-R. As a result, Zarqa was killed instantly while her mother Ameena, Sarang, Noor Jahan and Mumtaz sustained serious injuries.

KIDNAPPED: Allah Yar with the help of accomplices kidnapped Irshad Bibi, the wife of his opponent, Noor Ahmad, in Rangshah here on Saturday. Harappa police have registered a case.

CELEBRATION: Lawyers on Saturday celebrated the restoration of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry.

DISCONNECTED: Up to 300 telephone connections were dead when an underground cable was inadvertently cut during the digging of a road.

Police have registered a case on the report of sub-divisional engineer Muhammad Akmar against contractor Yasir Iqbal. — Correspondent
