LAHORE, July 17: After bombing in Islamabad on Tuesday, the Punjab government put law enforcement agencies on red alert, according to a handout. “Six suicide bombers have entered Punjab for their ulterior motives. Police have been directed to exercise extra vigilance and all police stations have been advised to increase patrolling in their areas and ensure security and safety at public places and sensitive installations,” an official announcement said.
It asked the public to remain vigilant and report any suspect at the emergency numbers of the police or the nearest police station.
Core Management teams in all the districts of Punjab have been activated in police stations to ensure safety and security of the general public.
SECTION 144: The Lahore District Nazim, has under section 144, imposed a ban on processions/rallies and corner meetings by any political/religious and other organizations except religious functions/Majalis arranged by different religious sects and Juma prayers in the revenue limits of Lahore district for a period of one month.
