UPPER DIR, July 16: Nazim of Upper Dir District Sahibzada Tariqullah presented the budget for 2007-08, having a total outlay of Rs840.471 million, here on Monday. The non-development expenditure got the lion’s share as Rs735.777 million was allocated for it, while Rs78.460 million was set aside for development projects.

An amount of Rs16.231 million was given to two tehsils with the Dir tehsil getting Rs10.2 million and Wari tehsil Rs5.9 million. No new tax was levied.

Giving details of the completed, ongoing and proposed development projects, the nazim said that the district was being put on the path to development.

Speaking of completed projects, he said that Rs50.523 million was spent on 690 schemes in the education sector, Rs165.412 million on 377 schemes in the communications sector, Rs84.8 million on 614 schemes in the public health sector, Rs3.892 million on 17 schemes in the housing and building sector, Rs2.519 million on 504 irrigation schemes, Rs2.997 million on 136 pavement schemes, Rs0.652 on 11 hydel schemes, Rs83.925 million on 47 electricity schemes and Rs205.4 million on 79 schemes in the health sector.
