LAHORE, July 14: The government’s efforts to promote the dairy sector will bring about a ‘white revolution’ in the country, Governor Khalid Maqbool said on Saturday. “These efforts are akin to those made for bringing about a green revolution four decades ago,” Maqbool said at a ceremony to inaugurate Pakistan’s first pesticide manufacturing plant that has been set up in collaboration with a Chinese firm.

He said China had contributed a lot to the development of industrial, manufacturing and agriculture sectors of Pakistan.

Talking about potential for economic cooperation between Pakistan and China, Maqbool said both countries were trying to increase the volume of trade.

He said the pesticide manufacture plant would go a long way in promoting agriculture in the country. “We want to see our farmers rich and powerful,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Federal Food Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan said the government had been trying for the last four years to make agriculture a profitable profession. —APP
