MULTAN, July 12: The Wifaqul Madaris Alarabia Pakistan does not rule out action against more religious schools in the country in future. WMAP secretary-general Qari Muhammad Hanif Jalandhary was talking to this correspondent after the president’s address to the nation in which he expressed his resolve to end extremism.
Jalandhary said that the unjustified policies of world powers were the major cause of extremism.
When asked who would define terrorism, he said what happened in Karachi on May 12 was watched by the entire world but Musharraf was not ready to take action against the killers of four dozen innocent people.
Speaking on president’s appreciation of ulema, Jalandhary said the gesture was meaningless since he (Musharraf) had refused to accept their reconciliation formula with Abdul Rashid Ghazi.
He said Ulema would condemn the killing of innocent people in their Juma sermons (today). He said the WMAP general body would meet here on Friday to decide the mode of future protest — whether it would be on roads or in shape of meetings.
He said that Tahafuz-i-Madaris Dinya conventions would be held in six important cities — in Lahore on July 14, Islamabad on July 19, Peshawar on July 26, Muzaffarabad on July 28, Karachi on Aug 2 and Quetta on Aug 9.
