KARACHI, July 11: While delays in the repairs of the so-called local faults in the KESC’s distribution system still bugged consumers, a high-level fact-finding team, appointed on the directives of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to find out the causes behind the utility’s problems, reached Karachi on Tuesday evening.

This is the second visit of the committee to the city in connection with its report, sources said. The committee members would return to Lahore on Thursday evening.

The committee is looking into the causes of the power crisis in the city and the effect of privatisation on the utility. Authorities were hopeful that things would improve amid reports that the provincial government had asked the O&M contractors of Siemens to shape up.

The committee, headed by Mr Ejaz Bhutta, was appointed by the Wapda chairman to investigate the causes of massive power breakdowns.
