JACOBABAD, July 9: A meeting to review the progress of drinking water projects was held here on Monday. It was presided over by District Nazim Begum Saeeda Soomro. The project of water supply was awarded to the FWO. Its technical adviser, Engr Shafi Mohammad Lakho briefed the meeting of the progress work. He said earlier total expenditure of the project was estimated Rs1,500 million but due to increased requirements Rs1,250 million were added.
Begum Saeeda Soomro said the project was 60-year old demand of the Jacobabad citizens as no drinking water was available. A filter plant will be established in which chlorine will be used to purify the water.
Engr Shafi Lakho said the master plan was not available but being surveyed through the satellite map. He said quality material was used and hoped these to remain durable for over 100 years.
For water connections, a firm will be given the task to handle and manage it. For domestic connection charges will be Rs175, Rs3,000 for commercial connection and Rs1,000 will be the connection fee.
He said water will be available at every house and every place in the city.
