MIANWALI, July 9: Absence of doctors, medical facilities and unprofessional attitude of the DHQ Hospital administration resulted in the death of a noted trader of the district on Sunday.

Haji Rustam Khan, ex-president of Anjuman-i-Tajran, suffered a heart attack and was rushed to the hospital at about 12:45pm. Surprisingly, no doctor was on duty in the emergency ward.

He was taken to the coronary care unit but the ECG machine was out of order. The paramedical staff on duty provided him emergency treatment.

They told the family members of Mr Khan that the doctor was not on duty and medical superintendent Dr Farooq Khan has gone to the EDO office as he was holding dual charge.

Moreover, he resides at Kundian, 25 kilometres from here instead of official accommodation in front of the hospital.

They tried to contact the MS or any other doctor but no one could be contacted. In the meanwhile, the trader died due to non-availability of medical aid.

The traders’ community has showed their dismay over the hospital affairs.

When contacted, Dr Khan said cardiologist was on leave while the other staff was there. He would hold an inquiry about the out of order ECG machine.
