PESHAWAR, July 7: Provision of health and education, clean drinking water and communication facilities is the prime duty of an Islamic government and the MMA government has tried its best in this regard, according to NWFP Minister for Auqaf and Religious Affairs Maulana Amanullah Haqqani.

He said this while addressing inaugural ceremonies of various development projects in Shaheedabad, Tahkal Bala, here on Saturday. The minister said the government was working to promote Islamic identity as well as a developed society.

He said the provincial government, instead of making false promises, had taken practical steps for the well-being of the common man and initiated interest-free banking, set up more than 70 colleges, established a women’s university and built public hospitals in Peshawar.
