PESHAWAR, July 5: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has cautioned the people to adopt precautionary measures to avoid electrocution, noting that fatal accidents had increased manifold because of carelessness on the part of consumers.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Pesco Chief Executive Brig Sakhi Marjan appealed to the people to immediately contact Pesco offices in case they saw damaged cables or snapped wires.

He also requested the people to call the Pesco Complaint centre/office or its Crisis Management Cell at telephone number 091-9212010 or UAN 111-000-128 to lodge their complaints so that prompt action could be taken and precious human lives saved.

He said that in order to avoid accidents and electric shocks, people should properly “earthen” their electrical appliances and replace all worn-out wires and avoid touching electrical appliances/cables with wet hands.

He also asked them to be careful and attentive while using electric water motors and electrical fans, asking them not to tie their pets and cattle with electric poles and towers, especially in rainy days.

He especially requested the womenfolk to avoid using metal wires for drying clothes and not to touch washing machines with wet hands. He urged them to keep mats under their feet while pressing clothes to avoid any electric shock.

He also asked the Pesco workers to avoid slackness and not to be over confident and must work with proper T&P items so that precious human lives remained safe.—PPI
