LAHORE, July 3: Civil judges of the Cantonment courts are not on strike, says a press note issued by the Lahore High Court.
The note says Cantonment civil judge and judicial magistrate Nadeem Hasan Waseer heard a bail plea of an accused involved in a Rs380 million fraud. The judge disposed it of according to the law.
The next day (Saturday), advocates Taimur and Naeem and four unidentified people entered the chambers of the civil judge and misbehaved with him, besides subjecting him to torture.
“The judges are taking up judicial matters in their respective chambers as working in courtrooms is not proper due to security reasons,” the release says, adding that no judge has gone on strike.
The Cantonment Lawyers Forum has, meanwhile, condemned the act of the two advocates while the Punjab Bar Council has issued them notices for cancellation of their licences, the press note says. —Staff Reporter
