PESHAWAR, June 29: The federal education ministry has empowered provinces to print textbooks and provide learning material to educational institutes in line with their educational needs, officials told Dawn on Friday.
They said that the textbook and learning material policy is aiming to improve the education standard in the country.
According to the draft policy issued by the federal education ministry on June 13, the federal government would help the provinces to get printed their textbooks on the lowest possible prices.
The new rules say it will be the sole responsibility of the provinces to prepare and implement syllabuses for different classes in schools and colleges.
Not only the public sector educational outlets, but the private schools and educational institutes had also been authorised to adopt courses of their choice from the syllabus approved by the provincial government.
According to the policy, the federal government has also asked the provincial government to form a committee for the selection of educational curriculum.
