MANSEHRA, June 22: District Nazim of Mansehra Sardar Mohammad Yousaf on Friday presented in the district council a surplus budget with a total outlay of Rs2.64 billion for the financial year 2007-08.
However, no fund has been allocated in the budget for rehabilitation of quake-hit parts of the district.
Presenting the budget, the district nazim said Rs1,762 million had been earmarked for non-development expenditures and Rs224 million for development expenditures, including schemes of the Citizen Community Boards.
He said allocations meant for the Mansehra Development Authority had been incorporated into the budget and Rs45 million had been set aside for its development and non-development expenditures.
He said Rs16 million from the district council’s earnings had also been earmarked for development expenditures. He said Rs50,000 had been set aside for honorarium of 26 women members of the council on the advice of the provincial government.
About reconstruction work in the quake-hit areas, he said the earthquake had destroyed 1,300 school buildings. He added that work on 181 buildings was in progress.
