LAHORE, June 19: The Senate’s privilege committee will now summon the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf any day before June 24, instead of June 28.

The change in the date was necessary because the PCB chief would not be available on June 28, as he has to attend an ICC meeting in London on June 26.

The Senate had referred a privilege motion, moved by Senator Enver Baig to its privilege committee.

Enver, also a member of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, has alleged in the motion that the PCB chairman had described him as a person with a ‘sick mind’.

Sources told Dawn Dr Nasim met Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro on Tuesday to discuss the matter relating to the privilege committee meeting.

The PCB chairman also requested to change the requisitioned meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Sports, which is scheduled to be held on June 26. However, the chairman of the committee, Chaudhry Zafar Iqbal, informed the Senate chairman that it could not be postponed, since it was a requisitioned meeting.

It is likely that Dr Nasim will nominate an official to represent him in the said meeting with all the relevant information the Senators have asked for.
