Published June 12, 2007

LAHORE, June 11: Lack of quorum again hit the Punjab Assembly proceedings on Monday afternoon when it met here to start budget session. Soon after the Asr prayer, a lone opposition member, who returned after the walkout, pointed out quorum, which was found lacking. On ringing of bells for 15 minutes, Treasury members returned to the house and proceedings started.

The house had hardly taken up two questions when the Question Hour ended and the Call Attention Notices were disposed off.

Of the official business, one bill - The Punjab Border Military Police (amendment) - was passed.

The rest of five ordinances - the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying (amendment) Ordinance, the Punjab Procurement Regulatory Authority Ordinance 2007, the Punjab Judicial Academy Ordinance 2007, The Provincial Motor Vehicles (amendment) and the Punjab Defender Service Ordinance 2007 - were referred to committees concerned. The House was later adjourned till 10am Tuesday morning.
