LANDI KOTAL (Khyber Agency), June 11: The Election Commission will establish 200 display centres in Khyber Agency for the acceptance of objections and corrections and inclusion of new names in the voters’ list, sources said.
Khyber Agency Assistant Election Commissioner Farid Khan said 100 centres would be established in Bara-Tirah, 55 in Jamrud and 45 in Landi Kotal from June 13.
He said that the centres would entertain objections, make corrections and enrol new voters till July 3.
He advised the people of remote areas to avail the opportunity and make necessary changes in the list.
He said special facilities would be provided to people of the areas affected by an armed conflict between two religious groups in Bara and Tirah.
Mr Khan said a number of Tirah valley residents could not be enrolled in the list as they had not acquired computerised national identity cards. However, a number of women having CNICs had been registered in Tirah, he said. He said his department had informed the National Database and Registration Authority about the non-issuance of CNICs to people in the area.
He said that the final list of Khyber Agency voters would be issued in September.
KOHAT: The deputy election commission office, Kohat, has notified that it will display the draft computerised lists at 362 centres in Kohat, Hangu and Karak districts and the Kohat Frontier Region.
Those who had attained the age of 18 on Jan 1 and had CNICs were eligible for registration, said Kohat Deputy Election Commissioner Musarat Afridi.
He said 208 display centres had been set up for Kohat, including 30 for the Frontier Region; 150 for Karak and 100 for Hangu. He said information officers would be present at each centre from 9am to 5pm. He said separate forms for inclusion of names, objections and corrections would be available.
HARIPUR: The Election Commission will set up 200 display centres in the Haripur district.
Assistant Election Commissioner Khalid Waheed Khan said the second phase of preparation of computerised electoral rolls would begin on June 12 with the publication of the draft lists.
He said the disposal of claims, objections and corrections and incorporation of decisions in the lists would be carried out from July 4 through 13. The lists would be dispatched to the offices of the Election Commission between July 16 and July 23 and the data entry of the final electoral rolls would commence on July 26.
According to a notification, seven assistant registration officers have been appointed to monitor and decide on the claims, objections and corrections with the consent of the reviewing authorities, seven judges of the district.
