NAB begins probe into fake auctions

RAHIM YAR KHAN, June 6: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started investigation into bogus auctions of different contracts by the Sadiqabad former tehsil nazim, naib tehsil nazim and other officials.

Led by NAB Punjab assistance-director Muhammad Umar Khan, the inquiry team has recorded statements of ex-tehsil nazim Mian Bashir Ahmed, former naib tehsil nazim Sardar Habibur Rehman Khan Gopang, chief officer Tauqir Dadoo, tehsil officer (revenue) Aneesur Rehman Chaudhry, TO (finance) Rasheed Ahmed, legal adviser Muhammad Husain, head clerk Rasool Bakhsh, junior clerk Hasnain, UC naib nazims Aamir Taqi, Zubair Afzal, Sadiq Javaid Ahmed, Haneef, Khalid Husain, Hamid Touqir and Faiz Muhammad.

The accused claimed that they had approved the contracts according to law.

PROMOTED: Thirty-six teachers — 26 male and 10 female — have been promoted to SSTs after approval by the district promotion committee and DCO Mian Mushtaq Ahmed.

They are 21 arts teachers (male), four science, one commerce and 10 arts teachers (female).— Correspondent
