KARACHI, June 4: The Pakistan People’s Party central vice-president, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, condemning the May 12 killings held the government and its ally party responsible.

The PPP leader visited injured party workers Abdul Majid and Qadir Ahmed at a local hospital and inquired after their well-being.

Mr Gilani described the May 12 incidents as state terrorism. He said unarmed political workers, lawyers and journalists had been targeted under the supervision of the ruling parties and the judges of high court were insulted.

He praised the party workers saying that despite all odds they reached the airport to receive the Chief Justice of Pakistan on May 12.

Meanwhile, PPP Karachi chapter’s president Rashid Rabbani, General Secretary Rafiq Engineer and Information Secretary Saeed Ghani condemned the restrictions on the electronic media.

They urged cable operators not to follow the illegal curbs being imposed by the present government.

BY POLLS: The PPP leaders condemned the MQM for using unfair methods in the by-elections of nazim in UC-10, Jamshed Town. As per past practice, they said, the MQM had occupied polling booths in Jail Road School, Kleton School, Safia Memorial School, PWD Inquiry School, Bhadur Yar Jang School and Nazim School.

They alleged that with the connivance of polling officers, they stuffed ballot boxes with votes while forcibly pulling out voters from these polling stations.
