LAHORE, May 25: Doctors under the banner of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club on Friday against granting extension to the tenure of the principals of some medical institutions in Punjab and the contract employment.
Holding play cards and banners, the protesters demanded the government to regularise (contract) doctors and abolish the contract system of employment.
They urged the government to stop its policy of granting re-employment to the principals after they reached the age of superannuation.
They said if the government did not accept their demands, they would continue to hold demonstrations throughout the province. Later they dispersed peacefully.
