KASUR, May 23: Four dacoits shot dead two brothers on resistance while a robber was killed by the firing of his accomplice here on Wednesday morning in Canada Colony, Chunian.
Police, later, arrested one of the dacoits while two others managed their escape.
Reports said four bandits entered the house of Fakeer Husain and held the family hostage. They shot at Fakeer’s sons — Iqbal, 30, Tariq, 26, and Basharat, 20, — on resistance. The three brothers were scuffling with the dacoits when one of the accused shot at Basharat. One of the bullets hit his accomplice Zubair. The wounded brothers were rushed to THQ hospital where Iqbal and Tariq succumbed to their injuries. Basharat was referred to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore.
The bandits were fleeing on their car (LXR-5844) when they had to stop at a closed level crossing. Two traffic head constables Ishaq and Iqbal, constable Tufail and ASI Javid Iqbal, who were deputed there, asked driver Shabbir for a lift to Lahore. On seeing an injured accused, the policemen asked them to alight from the car.
