TOBA TEK SINGH, May 21: The local chapter of the All-Pakistan Clerks Association (Apca) set up a protest camp outside the district education office here on Monday in protest against the alleged misbehaviour of a major with the district education officer (female).
The camp was also visited by deputy district education officer Malik Shahid Iqbal, Apca district chairman Ghulam Ghaus and other office-bearers.
The protesters wearing black armbands were demanding action against the army officer.
Meanwhile, DEO (female) Begum Najma Kausar has written a letter to DCO Nawazish Ali, complaining that Major Ghulam Rasool came to her office and asked to stop departmental action against his wife, Shahida Nasim, an SV teacher. When the army officer was told that an inquiry was under way, he got infuriated, threatened the DEO with dire consequences and tore apart office files, the letter said.
She has demanded of the DCO to send her complaint to the GHQ for action against the major.
ROBBERIES: Eight dacoits looted the house of a farmer in Chak 383-JB, Allahar Pind on Sunday night.
Reports said the robbers forced their entry into the house of Baboo, held the family members hostage and made off with Rs300,000 in cash and valuables.
Meanwhile, dacoits looted about 18 people on Sunday night on link road of Chak 297-JB near Gojra. The accused deprived them of cash, ornaments, wristwatches, mobile phones and valuables. — Correspondent
