LAHORE, May 17: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf’s Lahore leaders on Thursday rejected the explanation by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on the tragic incidents of Karachi, claiming that the MQM had exposed its true face while jeopardising a peaceful rally using violence.
Lahore president Shabbir Sial and others said at a rally at the Charing Cross the explanation now being offered was an attempt to regain political foothold in Sindh and elsewhere in the country. But it was a lost game now, they added.
The PTI leaders were of the view that the entire Sindh administration was responsible for the May 12 incidents which claimed more than 35 lives and left hundreds others injured. They pleaded that criminal cases should be registered against the president, Sindh governor and chief minister and the MQM leadership for abandoning Karachi’s administration and leaving the city at the mercy of armed ruffians.
They said the people stood behind lawyers in their struggle and all the opposition political parties had also forged unity and their joint struggle was aimed at ending military rule in the country once and for all. —Correspondent
