KARACHI, May 8: Residents of various localities on Tuesday complained of water shortage and accused the officials of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) of indifference towards public complaints.

Members of the Mohallah committee, D.D Chaudhry Road, Baghdadi UC-5, Lyari said that they were facing acute shortage of water since 2002 and despite their repeated requests the KWSB officials were not taking any action to solve the problem. They said a population of over 4,000 residents was suffering especially during the current hot and sultry weather.

They said the water supplied to the localities was contaminated. The inhabitants of Gulshan-i-Hill Area of PECHS Society and Swat Charbagh Colony said that work on a water line was initiated to solve the problem, but was left halfway. They said people had to meet their needs through water tankers, or donkey carts at exorbitant prices.

Residents of Mehmood Shah Bukhari Road and adjacent areas of UC-4 Jamshed Town said that water was supplied to the localities for 15 minutes every week.
