MUZAFFARGARH, May 7: District Nazim Sardar Qayyum Khan Jatoi has said that the Punjab government should be held responsible for the death of four students who died when the school’s wall collapsed on Thursday.
Talking to aggrieved families at Qul of the four girls in Alipur, he said the Punjab government had not released the budget for the district government for the last two years and no development work could be taken place in the district. He said people from the area had informed him about the shortage of classrooms in the school but he could not do any thing as he had no funds and the district administration was reluctant to follow his orders.
“I wish I had funds so that I could construct the school,” he said. He said besides the Government Girls’ Primary School, Ghalwan, there were dozens of other schools functional in dangerous buildings.
Thousands of the people attended the Qul of four girls — Tabasum Zahra, Arifa Bashir, Munezza Bashir and Sumaira Hasnain.
