Jewellers protest robbery

GUJRANWALA, May 6: Traders and jewellers of Ghakkhar Town on Sunday protested against the police for not arresting robbers who took away cash and ornaments worth Rs4.5 million from four jewellery shops last month.

Traders, led by MNA Chaudhry Imtiaz Safdar Warraich, called on DIG (operation) Khadim Husain Bhatti at his office complained of police inefficiency. Jewellers association president Shahid Altaf, brother of railway DIG Sarfraz Ahmad, told Mr Bhatti that the town police had failed to arrest the accused despite a lapse of one month.

The DIG assured the delegation that the robbers would be arrested soon. He asked them to depute their private gunmen in markets and shoot at culprits instantly without fear.
