PARACHINAR, May 6: The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is yet to repair telephone lines in Parachinar and adjoining areas that were damaged during recent clashes.

Residents complained that more than a thousand lines had been damaged in the main town in heavy shellings, but the local PTCL staff did nothing about it and no repair work was carried out. Consumers said they had been facing inconvenience due to the faulty lines for the past one month.

A PTCL official in the city said the lines could not be repaired due to non-availability of equipments, adding that the regional headquarters had been requested for help in this regard. He gave assurances that equipments for repair work would reach the main exchange within a few days.

Meanwhile, all educational institutions, including public and private, will reopen in Kurram Agency a month after they were closed down due to the clashes on April 6, authorities said.
